Stop the Rush to Judgment!

Once again in Madison, Wisconsin, mob mentality reared its ugly head to vilify police for shooting and killing a man police were trying to take into custody. It happened on Williamson St. on Wednesday afternoon, July 22. Someone caught the altercation on video and then sent that viral video contending simply that an innocent man was just shot dead by police. Soon that video was on every TV Stations news feeds along with that exact opinion being spread.

I’m personally appalled at both the media, as well as, those who produced and perpetuated that story without any additional evidence. Even the Madison Mayor vilified police before any investigation was started by police or the State Justice Department that has jurisdiction investigating such incidents. Protestors of the shooting death fueled only by speculation even shut down the “Concerts on the Square” social event Wednesday night (and the final concert this week was cancelled too) to further spew opinion while facts were being investigated. It is the clearest example of a “Rush To Judgment!”

How a Former Police Officer Sees the Corey Ruiz Case

An account from former Madison police officer and security expert Adrian Alan:

“The [police] officer involved [in the Corey Ruiz case] is someone I field trained many years ago. … He was solid back then and he is today. By all accounts and by my observations, he is calm, competent, level-headed, ethical, and has demonstrated good judgement and leadership. I have never heard anyone say a bad thing about him. He’s a good cop and a good man.

“The suspect was breaking into cars, fled, resisted, fought and SUDDENLY produced a DEADLY WEAPON at arm’s length. He essentially AMBUSHED the officers with a knife. He wasn’t standing 30 feet away with the knife out telling officers not to approach him and then they closed on him. NO. He pulled it suddenly when they were hands on and slashed at them from arms length.

“He cut the officer who shot him. He was an immediate threat to the officer who shot him and all three other officers who were fighting with him. That is clear legal justification for using deadly force.
