Eric Toney Slams Josh Kaul for Giving Himself an A for Crime Lab Mess
Wisconsin Right Now staff - October 11, 2026
The Fond du Lac County DA noted that Kaul left positions unfilled despite complaining that he needed the legislature to give him more of them.
DA Eric Toney is calling out AG Josh Kaul for giving himself an “A” on this morning’s UPFRONT Attorney General Debate despite failing to fix the state crime lab. Toney said he would give Kaul an “F” because the dysfunctional labs are taking longer to test less evidence, despite Kaul promising to improve them.
That’s according to Kaul’s own reports and a non-partisan state audit.
“Josh Kaul shockingly gave Wisconsin’s crime labs an ‘A’ grade, despite the nonpartisan audit finding the labs are taking longer to test less evidence, and in need of management fixes,” said Toney.
The Fond du Lac County DA noted that Kaul left positions unfilled despite complaining that he needed the legislature to give him more of them.
“Under Kaul, a hiring freeze was implemented that left critical lab analyst positions vacant and DNA results now take more than twice as long compared to when he took office,” said Toney in a news release. “These delays deny justice for victims and leave criminals on our streets longer.”
Does Madison Need More Flamethrowers?
David Blaska, Blaska Policy Werkes - October 8, 2026
The police monitor is a battle for Madison’s soul.
Can you appreciate the courage required for Alder Will Ochowicz to propose firing Madison’s interim police monitor, Aeiramique Glass?
The young alder has taken on the social justice warriors who close down city streets seemingly at will and venerate criminals like Corey Ruiz as martyrs to racist Madison. They F-bomb private residences and dox dissidents. Their mission is to defund the police (sometimes by other means) and empty the jails. They are a public nuisance.
Should Alder Ochowicz prevail, it will signal that Madison will no longer dance to the angry bullhorn. Because there is no way to satiate the Woke mob and run a functioning city. Already, the progressive borg, centered around Brenda Konkel’s city-nuisance social justice center, has targeted Ald. Ochowicz for recall. …
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Madison’s independent police monitor is like socialism: someday it will work if only we could find the right person to do it.
Just put all of the candy in my bag…
