Wisconsin Squandered $18.5 Million in Federal Funds for Autism Therapy, Federal Audit Finds

TrueNorthNews - March 5, 2026

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General determined that Wisconsin made at least $18.5 million in improper fee-for-service Medicaid payments for Applied Behavior Analysis services in 2021 and 2022. The findings, detailed in audit report A-06-23-01002, reveal a systemic breakdown in how the state oversees Medicaid-funded autism therapy for children.

Wisconsin’s payments for ABA did not fully comply with federal and state requirements. All 100 sampled enrollee-months included payments for one or more claim lines that were improper or potentially improper.

The scale of the problem could be far larger. The OIG estimates potentially improper payments could amount to around $94.3 million, with $62.3 million of that from the federal share.

More Woke Racism from The Capital Times

David Blaska, Blaska Policy Werkes - March 5, 2026

Progressives need victims! Mars needs women!

My former employer is saying the quiet part out loud: that the WI Institute for Law & Liberty is racist. The emeritus editor of The Capital Times accuses the pro-bono conservative law firm of “[using] anti-racist policies for a racist cause:”

With generous tax deductible funding from the right-wing Bradley Foundation of Milwaukee, the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty — W.I.L.L. for short — has been successful in using those laws to allege discrimination against white people.

Note the whiff of partisan brimstone! (Not that The Capital Times doesn’t offload some of its profits tax free through its Evjue Foundation.) Emeritus editor Dave Zweifel damns Law & Liberty for demanding equal treatment under the law — as promised by the U.S. Constitution. The concept of equality instead of “equity” is an existential threat to the progressive/socialist enterprise — whose entrenchment into the bureaucracy, campuses, and media fuels the lucrative DEI industrial complex.
