David Crowley’s Establishment Carriage Quickly Turns Into a Pumpkin, and Tony Evers Sends a Weak Missive From Ghana

Jessica McBride, Wisconsin Right Now - July 19, 2026

Pro tip for politicians: Never start a sentence with “I am not a…” Where’s Kimberly Kane when they need her? Why do I need to teach them this stuff? Please send me my check for $45,000 for that advice. Just kidding.

“I am not a handpicked candidate,” the Democratic Party establishment’s handpicked candidate, David Crowley, insisted to WISC-TV’s Elly Laliberte. “Well, I don’t know who the establishment is,” he insisted to reporter Jason Calvi.

He’s the only one who can’t find the establishment, even when it’s trying to rig the primary for him. Crowley, the Milwaukee County Executive who already quit the race because he was trailing so badly in the polls, said all of this stuff with a straight face shortly after the sitting governor helped engineer his dramatic return into the craziest gubernatorial primary in #Wisconsin history (it’s even crazier than a group supporting Tim Michels falsely calling rock-solid conservative warrior Rebecca Kleefisch a Chinese Communist.)

Meanwhile, the David Crowley Cinderella story turned into a pumpkin by midnight. Kelda Roys supporters were ballistic. Mandela Barnes supporters were angry. Francesca Hong supporters were incensed. Joel Brennan’s supporters were probably enraged too, but I’m not sure if he has any. …

Tom Tiffany for Governor Announces $10 Million Fundraising Haul as Sara Rodriguez Finance Scandal Explodes

Wisconsin Right Now staff - July 15, 2026

Congressman Tom Tiffany announced Wednesday that his campaign for governor “has raised more than $10 million since launching, with contributions from all 72 Wisconsin counties and over 10,000 small-dollar donors. Tiffany will also report raising more than $8 million during the latest reporting period, from January 1 through June 30, and entering the next reporting period with nearly $3 million cash on hand.”

The announcement, which Tiffany made first to the national conservative site Breitbart, comes as Democrats are in disarray due to Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez’s campaign finance report scandal. Rodriguez, the establishment favorite in the Democrat primary, admitted she doesn’t even know for sure how much she has had and acknowledged that a previously announced $1 million ad buy was bogus, blaming her campaign manager. Socialist/anarchist Fran Hong and former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes have led in most polls on that side. Campaigns& Elections

“Our grassroots campaign is reaching all 72 counties because the demand for common-sense leadership has never been stronger,” said Tom Tiffany, a Republican. “Wisconsinites are tired of bigger government, higher costs, and more bureaucracy. They’re ready for a governor who will cut taxes, reduce red tape, and get government out of their way. I’m truly humbled by the support we’re receiving from every corner of our state.”

The fundraising announcement “comes after Sara Rodriguez, a leading Democrat candidate for governor, admitted her campaign had experienced campaign finance malfeasance that took six months to uncover. According to her campaign, the reporting errors involved ‘hundreds of thousands of dollars’ in contributions, and Rodriguez says she has just $200,000 cash on hand,” added the Tiffany campaign. …
