She’s not quite Walter Cronkite, but when you’ve lost Maureen Dowd, liberals, you’ve lost the argument. In today’s New York Times, the born-and-raised resident of Washington D.C. — no MAGA-ite, she — writes, “Many D.C. residents are secretly glad to see more uniforms. No matter what statistics say, they don’t feel safe.” While Ms. Dowd was scribbling this, she reports, her sister Peggy was filing reports at the police station.

Great News from Dane County!

I hope your summer has been great. It’s been a while since I’ve provided an update from the Dane County Board, and I thought you might find our most recent meeting enlightening.
Here are some of the highlights (or lowlights depending on your worldview).
The meeting started out great when a supervisor delivered an “inspirational message” by comparing what’s currently happening in our nation at the federal level, to what happened in Nazi Germany under Hitler. Because you know, it wouldn’t be an official meeting in Dane County without someone comparing President Trump to Hitler. You can watch his comments here after the video gets posted.
We declared August as Transgender History month.
Despite the fact that we are heading towards a fiscal cliff in 2026 with a projected $31 million budget deficit, we approved millions in new discretionary spending including $266k in new borrowing for a sun shade for the seals at the Henry Vilas Zoo. So, when you open your property tax bill in January just remember, the seals thank you for the shade you bought them.
